Suzana Turns 10! {Huntington WV children’s photographer}

Suzana’s parents and our family have been friends for years, but I’ve never had the opportunity to photograph them.  Imagine my joy when Rachael (mom) called and asked me to help her brainstorm a special session for Suzana’s 10th birthday!  We carefully selected location, outfits, themes and her expectations for the session….I was so excited by the time the day finally arrived.

We had the most perfect weather– not too hot, not too cold– and sweet Suzana hammed it up for me.  I love how we were able to bring Rachael’s vision to life– to celebrate Suzana being herself….laughing, dancing, leaping, even making a duck face (but we decided together to not keep that one 😉 ).  Suzana is such an incredibly cheerful child and I really enjoyed getting to spend this special time with her and celebrate this milestone.

Enjoy these images from one of my favorite sessions to date!

Commercial Client | Huntington Dance Theatre

This is one of my favorite sessions each year– my continued partnership with HDT is one of those win/win situations that brings me joy each time we get together.  Last year, using the headshots and action dance shots that I provided, the girls gained acceptance to some truly impressive ballet intensives all over the country!! This year, I can see definite growth in all of their skills and I am so proud of the incredible dancers they’re becoming!!

I am so hopeful for their continued success and hope that my small involvement in the process will help them to be awarded auditions so they can sparkle and shine.

Good luck, girls!!!2016-01-05_00282016-01-05_00292016-01-05_00302016-01-05_0031

Special Project | Huntington Dancer’s Guild Photos {Huntington Dance Photography}

I had the good fortune to work with HDG last year for their year-end recital photos and when the call came to do it again this year I happily said yes!  My years as a dancer are long gone but I do miss it, and so this is the perfect way for me to combine a love of dance with my love for photography.  Meredith and I worked hard to position the dancers to highlight their (incredible) skills and I could really see a lot of growth and increased skills in the girls from last year to this year…so way to go, ladies!!! 🙂 They should be super proud of themselves- they rock! 🙂

Thank you so much, girls!  I can’t wait to see what next year brings!
